Default GWEN: Heroes

So, I've been glancing around all these new Eye of North and GW2 threads. But mostly focusing on GWEN, seeing as the later game is so ridiculously far away that only very silly people seem to want to talk about it. And then in a way that isn't doing it any justice at all ("omg WoW i no evurytng abot gw2 i thnk blahblahblahblacksheep").

Something that caught my attention was new heroes. I haven't seen much discussion on this. One of my favorite features in Nightfall was the addition of heroes. Since Eye of the North is taking us to all these neat new places to meet with new peoples, our number of new hero's is 10. That's a big number, big enough to include one of every new race mentioned and then some.

I don't know about you, but man do I want a charr hero. Maybe something that ties up with the revelation of the nature of the charrs "gods". That would be awesome. Maybe a tengu hero too, if any of those new races are tengu in nature. Forgottens, dwarves, ect. Some people too, "Gwen" comes to mind. What kind of folks do you want to see as hero's in EotN?

Thats the reason why people get Razah, solely because it's an acchievement of one form or another. Not because he's uber. A ranger/rit hero can do damn near the same thing for spirit spamming, or ele/rit for channeling if you really want to run some rit stuff. One well established solution is to buy the gems, they seem to be going for as low as 75-80k for a set now, thats what 4 hours of good farming?

Charr hero? RULES!!!! I want some. 10 new heroes is going to kick bootay.

IF GW:EN is indeed providing 10 more heroes, do you realize that that is additional storage for:

50 Runes
50 Insignia
10 two handed weapons - or - 10 one handed weapons plus 10 offhands - or - mix of the two

That's a lot of free storage.

And that's per character.

Yes, Gwen will probably be a mesmer hero, since her mother were a mesmer too.

The charr gods were the titans, if you completed that quest in realm of torment wich you help a charr finding his god you would know.

I don't get what you are saying, last time I checked Heroes have no storage.
As far as I know the only way of "storing" items on heroes is by making them equip it, so I don't think making them equip runes would be worth it in any way.
But... ummm. better than nothing?

We'll probably get a Norn ritualist, since they're shamans.

And a sylvari ranger. They look ranger-y.

Gwen's mother had no profession, She just sort of stood around in the village near Ashford Abbey and that was only if she spawned. The picture that has been posted shows Gwen wearing armor that looks very much like mesmer armor. The only NPC who she eluded to having an influence from was Lady Althea, Rurik's Fiance not her mother.

Exactly... you get guaranteed salvage from equipped hero items... runes and insignias. Granted, it's effectively paid storage if you factor the cost of the salvage kits, but still storage none-the-less. You could, for example, have a hero you never use and equip five superior vigors on it. Frees five slots and you'll never lose them.

So yes... equip your heroes as mules. Free storage.

I sort of touched on that already. If you read better you would know.

You are wrong.
You can store runes/inscriptions on heroes by applying them to their armor, and then simply take them off. Unlike players, hero's armor does not break. You can do this indefinately.

I'm excited by the addition of new heroes too. Being able to partially build a team when you're by yourself gave me a LOT more incentive to play PVE. I only wish that I could have 7 heroes at a time.

Sort of offtopic: Sadly though, from reading the article, it looks like they're doing away with Heroes in GW2. They're being replaced by "Companions" which are basically heroes but are more like pets in that they reduce your character's overall strength (ala pet taking up a slot) and they dont take up party slots and you only get one.

The reason I say that heroes/henchies might be gone is because the article says, "Instead of heroes/henchies you get a companion" The article could be wrong or I could have read it wrong though.

Hope we get a Charr Shaman healer, would struggle to choose between a Charr War Blade and Koss. :/

I too wish we could bring seven heroes at a time Ernada but i dout it will happen. In terms of classes, seems as though it will be one of each (no new classes) but who knows.

Charr Axe Warrior Hero + Koss as Sword + Devona on Hammer = Physical Pwnage. I could care less about the class. As long as it's a charr. Charr healer, charr fire caller, all cool with me. A little variety never hurt. Dwarven hammer warrior? So many cool things they can do with heroes.

Norgu's a player. He doesn't need your approval.

It takes you 100 hours to earn 80k and do a 20 minute (henchable) quest?

I wish people would actually think about what you need for Razah before jumping on the "itz 2 hard!" bandwagon.
